Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
When was the last time you just stopped? Stopped moving, driving, running, posting, calling, messaging, playing, watching, listening, and just stopped. This verse has always held a power to me, and I think of it now. As I start this site, I have to be cautious to not let it or any earthly endeavor to overcrowd my life to the point that it chokes all spiritual growth. We can all find something to be doing at all time, even if it’s nothing at all. Still, when is the last time we stopped such things, and just focused on God. I pastor, and I know even when the message is being delivered to people, I can see if the focus is on what’s being delivered. We have so many irons in the fire at all times, and it seems like there is always someone or something that needs attention at any given moment. You know who deserves our attention? Jesus Christ. He won’t force himself on us, like the chiming ding of a Facebook message or the calls of other people; no, He waits for us to meet Him, and oftentimes, He’s stood up. All He desires is a close relationship, but it’s so easy for us to allow anything and everything to hinder that. Too little prayer, too little praise, too little worship, but a never-ending line of distractions. Nothing given in our mind and hearts of who God is, what He desire of us and for us, and where we fit into His Kingdom mission.
Take the time to devote to knowing God. Stop what you are doing, and give Him the focus.
